PROJECT COMPLETION Update

The Fiber Infrastructure Process is NOW COMPLETE across the city with the final stage of fiber installation to Sunset residents taking place now!

The Connext team, Sunset City officials and residents celebrated the completion of the long anticipated citywide upgrade to the connectivity infrastructure on Thursday, March 7. The inaugural Sunset City connections were made the same day as the entirety of the fiber optic system is now lit up and ready to provide lightening fast internet access to all 1600+ households. 

 

A large portion of the homes in Sunset are being connected to fiber utilizing the existing power poles, what we call aerial connections. The majority of the power poles are located in residents back yards so please be mindful that our crews will be needing access to these vital pieces of infrastructure to connect your neighbors. This is a quick process, the aerial fiber connections to homes usually only take an hour or so to complete. Call now to get connected to the next level in communication technology. 

 

As we prepare to connect your home, this is the perfect time to take a look where these connections to your home will take place.

For Aerial Pole Installation: The fiber will typically follow the same path as the electrical service, connecting to your home from the power pole on the shortest distance possible. The fiber will then terminate on the side of your home in a small telecommunications box called a Network Interface Device "NID".

​

For Underground Installation:  The fiber will be placed in conduit buried in the earth. The fiber connection to your home will typically run from the vault underground, in a line the shortest distance to the side of your house where the fiber will terminate in the NID. The Connext vault is located on the edge of your property, one vault for every two houses. 

 

Take a few minutes to llook where the vault is located in your yard to better understand where these connections will take place. If the fiber infrastructure has not been installed or you are unsure about the location of the aerial or underground connections, please contact us to learn where the connection will take place on your home.
